Behind the Scenes: Set Design

On the set of Original Jayhawker, we interviewed friends, neighbors, people you know and see every day. They shared memories and knowledge from years of research about this place we call home.

We interviewed them in the historical village. As set designer, I set up areas reflecting their lives and the history they revealed. To do this, I used old tools, housewares, civil war goods and other items from our past. We learned of men who farmed, hunted, and fought wars and about women who created schools, libraries, exacted prohibition and won the right to vote. Our fertile valley is entwined in our Country’s history and held together by its people.
